Fricke, Smith, Hickey lead winners at Nitro on the Bayou Division 4 race

Jackie Fricke, Kyle Smith, and Adam Hickey led the list of winners as the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series South Central Division was in action with Nitro on the Bayou at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose La.
TOP ALCOHOL DRAGSTER
Flemington, N.J. racer Jackie Fricke defeated new to Top Alcohol Dragster and former NHRA Pro Stock Bike champ Angelle Sampey in the finals on Saturday. Fricke, who was low qualifier at posted a low ET of the event 5.198, 281.37 in the finals taking out Sampey’s traction plagued 7.299, 119.73. The win for Fricke was her 17th Lucas Oil Wally.
TOP ALCOHOL FUNNY CAR
In what was a short field of three cars, Kyle Smith from Valley Center Kan. Beat Iowa racer Christine Foster in a close final. Both racers had nearly identical reation times and at the stripe it was Smith’s 5.491 edging out Fosters 5.52. The win at Belle Rose was Smith’s 7th career Lucas division win.
COMPETITION ELIMINATOR
Adam Hickey, from Ponchatoula, La. Drove his ’07 Spitzer B/DA to the win in Comp beating Cali Neff’s J/DA in the finals. Hickey had an easy run as Neff from Westminster CO. left too soon handing the win to Hickey who cruised to a shutting off 7.861 on a 7.28 dial. The win was Hickey’s 5th Lucas win
SUPER STOCK
It was a heads up final in Super Stock with two GT/IA Pontiacs up against each other in the finals. It was all over at the hit as Logan Belanger from Elizabeth Ind left 0.012 too soon handing Hunter Pierdolla from Fredricksburg, Texas take his second career Lucas Oil win.
STOCK ELIMINATOR
Bob Vogel from Mineola Texas was the recipient of Mick Bulriss’ red light in the finals of Stock. Vogel driving his K/SA ’81 Malibu, took the win with a 11.62 on his 11.60 dial. The win was Vogel’s first ever Lucas Oil Divisional win in his second final.
SUPER COMP
Chuck Prejean’s reaction time in the finals made the difference at the stripe as the Brusly La driver got his Undercover dragster off the line with a 0.030 light to his competition, Taryn Rickman from Combine TX. Was second with a 0.082. It paid off on the top end for Prejean as his 8.924 beat the better but later 8.910 of Rickman. The win was Prejean’s second career Lucas Oil Wally.
SUPER GAS
Taking his ninth Lucas Oil Series Wally was Blanchard Oklahoma racer Vernon Rowland. Rowland’s competition, the ’08 Camaro of Jackson Collier from nearby Benton had a great 0.003 light but pushed his Chevy too far and broke out with a 9.879 while Rowland was also under the 9.90 index with a winning 9.883 in his ’85 Calais.
SUPER STREET
Another red light decided the finals as Jimmy Denham from Collinsville, Okla competition, the ’67 Chevy Wagon of Charles Wier from Haltom City TX. gave Denham his second Lucas Wally of his career. Denham would have been hard to beat as Denham, driving his Chevy S-10 cut a perfect 0.00 light and after seeing Wier’s foul, legged it to a winning 10.861.
TOP SPORTSMAN
Once again the red eye decided a final at Belle Rose as hometown racer Ricky Vedros left too soon in his ’02 Firebird giving the Chanse Bullock from Baytown Texas took his ’07 GTO to a second career Lucas win.
TOP DRAGSTER
Four time Lucas champ David Bills from Marion Texas took out race car insurance provider Ross Laris in the finals of T/D in a close race. Bills had a 0.017 light to Laris, who is from nearby Raceland, had a decent 0.020. Bills ran closer to his dial with a 6.927 on a 6.91 to Laris losing 6.143 on his 6.12 dial.
