The Mid Atlantic Super Series has announced their 2024 schedule and it is full of surprises.

First off, with the closing of Atco Dragway, series President Rob Keister and his group needed to replace the venerable New Jersey facility as one of the stops on the tour and they really knocked it out of the park taking their series to one of the oldest and famous tracks in the Northeast, Mason Dixon Dragway in Boonsboro MD. The track has been home to a variety of events in its history including NHRA Opens and the annual Rocking Chair Nationals.

Racing at the Mason Dixon track is like taking a trip back in time. 

But there’s more. Last year after operating one of the most successful series in the division, New Jersey native and NHRA associate Dave Ley made the tough decision to cease the Coast Stock / Super Stock Association after 30 years of staging some of the best side by side door slammer racing.

The news was met with quite a lot of sadness but thanks to the urging of NHRA racer Josh Eastburn from Hoopes Fire Equipment and Cecil County Dragway’s Chad Porter, the Mid Atlantic group has welcomed the Stock/Super Stock series as a trial for 2024 which hopefully, blossoms into more going forward.

The Stock/Super Stock racers will have the chance to race with their .90 sisters and brothers at Cecil County twice in 2024. May 18-19 and August 3-4. The rules will be the same as Dave’s series and promises to be a great addition to an already exciting weekend of racing.

Keister also announced the 2023 Champions banquet to be held in Trevose PA the weekend of March 16. See attached flyer for more information.

The Mid Atlantic Super Series announced their 2024 action packed schedule that will keep everyone busy over the five weekend – ten race schedules for most. In 2023 the series expanded from it is normal .90 classes of Super Comp, Gas & Street to also feature Top Sportsman, Top Dragster & Juniors offering  a little more incentive for tracks to host them for years to come. The series had planned to run at tracks like Atco, Maple Grove & Cecil County but as we all know by now the sudden closure of Atco mid-season threw a giant monkey wrench into the plans and cut the 2023 schedule down from ten scheduled events to only five.

The 2024 schedule has a little bit of everything for everyone as President Rob Keister & VP Dana Nahill worked hard with the surrounding tracks to put together a schedule that will suit just about everyone whether you race Juniors, .90, Top Sportsman / Dragster or Brackets, the schedule has it all.

The season kicks things off the weekend after the LODRS NHRA D1 series at Cecil County Dragway on May 18th & 19th. Just like with all the Mid Atlantic .90 races, the event features double events so for one tow you get two races and a free racers BBQ on Saturday Night. This event will feature Juniors, .90, the Top 32 Challenge, Gamblers Bracket Races both days and the popular nostalgia UNSS Series on Saturday.The Cecil event will also be the debut of the NHRA Stock/Super Stock racers.

The next stop on the series is the  “House of Chaos” for a June 29th & 30th showdown that will break up the series from its normal group as it will include the .90 classes & Top 32 series. The Juniors will be in attendance but will be part of the ET Bracket Series race for that weekend which will feature two events. The Maple Grove ET Series features classes such as Super, Pro, Sportsman, Bikes, Junior Street, Juniors, and Pro Dial to add to those racers who want to get a chance at 4 classes for one tow over the weekend.

A new venue will join the long list of tracks the series has been involved with as they welcome Mason-Dixon Dragway to the family for a July 20th & 21st shootout that will bring some new faces to the series and relive some of the days of the old MAPGA series that used to visit in the early 90’s. With Bristol Dragway hosting  the JDRL Eastern Conference Finals the same weekend, Juniors will once again skip this weekend and it will be the .90 Classes, Top 32 and a Footbrake race. Other classes might be added later but, track owner Elmer Wachter is excited to bring NHRA style class racing back to the Boonsboro, MD facility since the NHRA National Open series last visited in the late 2000’s.

The series then closes it all out with double weekends back at Cecil County Dragway on Aug 3rd & 4th  (Including Stock/Super Stock Series) and September 7th & 8th. The August date will once again feature one of the biggest social gatherings on the East Coast, the 31st Annual Uncle Buck Pig Roast. Just like in May the series will welcome back the Junior Dragsters along with the .90 classes, Top 32 series, Gamblers Races, and the UNSS Series on Saturday. In September those wishing to grab some test hits in before the NHRA Pep Boys Nationals may do so with a two-day race at the NE Maryland Track and once done on Sunday can go stack in line at the PA facility that is only fifty miles North of Cecil. The same classes as May & August will be featured that weekend to give everyone an action-packed weekend of racing.
