By the look of the corn in the surrounding fields, summer was on it’s last legs and Fall was moving in. At South Mountain Raceway, it means its time for the annual Trunk or Treat race featuring everything Halloween . The event was also the last race of the years for racers to earn valuable points and to vie for the NHRA King of the Track

Chamber of Commerce weather greeted the racers and their loyal fans at South Mountain Raceway which is in Boiling Springs, PA.
Prior to this event, South Mountain Raceway was rained out for six consecutive Sundays.

There were eleven different categories for the race vehicles to make passes down the 64 year old dragstrip. The pit area was filled with minibikes, vintage race cars, junior dragsters, and Box/ No Box race cars to name a few of the entrants.

The race participants were able to make two time shots prior to class eliminations.

A Halloween Costume Contest was held after the completion of time trials with all ages participating. Unique awards were given to the winners as well as lots of candy for the participants.

The highlight of the event was the the racing among the Vintage Eliminator Group. Their race cars are a recreation of the hot rods that were part of the car culture after WW 2. The roadsters and coupes were raced on former air fields, oval tracks, and dry lake beds. Most of the vintage racers came from Pennsylvania and neighboring states. One of the participants made the long tow from Tennessee.

The racing program proceeded at a constant pace to accommodate the large turnout of race cars. Buybacks were available for some of the racing categories. Trophies were awarded to the respective winners of King of the Track and The PA State Championship.

South Mountain Raceway will close for the 2026 Season on Sunday Nov.1st. when they will hold the NHRA TV Wally Race.
