World champions like Fredy Scriba, Jason Harris, Chris Powers, and Ethan Steding are just a few of the standout Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series drivers who will take part in Thursday night’s fifth annual Summit Racing Equipment PDRA ProStars all-star race at Virginia Motorsports Park. Held in conjunction with PDRA’s Pro Line Racing Brian Olson Memorial World Finals presented by ProCharger and VMP’s Night of Fire, ProStars is a race-your-way-in event that provides an opportunity for consistent PDRA racers to compete for bonus prize money, custom trophies, and more.
PDRA racers started earning ProStars points at the 2024 Northern Nationals and accumulated points through this year’s Northern Nationals in early August. The top eight drivers in ProStars points were invited to compete in the ProStars shootouts, while alternates were inserted for drivers who can’t attend the race. Teams do not pay an entry fee to compete in ProStars. Drivers will get the opportunity to make two test runs on Thursday before random chip drawings during driver introductions set the pairings for eliminations.
“ProStars is our way of celebrating the racers who make the PDRA what it is all year long,” said PDRA Series Director Tyler Crossnoe. “This event gives them a chance to race purely for the thrill of it – no points, just fun, excitement for the fans, and a shot at a big payday. The chip-draw format sets the stage for some wild pairings, and with the talent we have in the series right now, fans can expect surprises all the way through the finals.”
Drivers are awarded 40 points for attending each national event on the Red Line Oil PDRA Series tour, 10 points per round win, and two points for an event win. In the pro classes, a holeshot round win comes with one bonus point. In the sportsman ranks, drivers who run dead-on their dial-ins pick up one bonus point.
