Day one of the Cecil County Lucas Oil divisional, the last of the event that racers could add to their D1 points for 2025, was, after the track warmed up, a perfect day. Temps in the 60’s added to the legendary Cecil County bite, made for some personal bests for more than a few racers. The traction was so good, front wheel cars were leaving the starting line with their wheels in the air. But all seriousness aside, conditions were optimal
After two shots, defending Comp champ Steve Szupka sits on top in Competition Eliminator with a fantastic -0.724 under 7.57 in the Miskovsky Competition Engine Services C/DA
Local racer David Collette from Perryville has his ’11 Dodge Challenger in the top spot in Super Stock with a -1.081 under 8.969.
Perry Hall MD racer Scot Luken has his ProCharger dragster #1 in Top Dragster with a 6.101
Jeff Brooks from Fredricksburg VA to no ones surprise, put his ’52 Henry J on the provisional pole position in Top Sportsman with a 6.23 at a booming 224.55.
Ralph Porpora from Washingtonville NY has his D/SA ’69 Camaro #1 with -0.147 under 10.403
Right behind Porpora was the Ford Galaxie of Pat Clemente from New Jersey. Clemente has his clutch 4 speed in the show with an astounding -1.074 under 10.126
Qualifying and the early round of eliminations continue tomorrow with the finals on Sunday
