Defending champ Steve Comella from Webster NY continued to lead the field of 1968 Hemi Darts and Barracudas at thel 71st annual Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis Indiana.
Comella driving his Westcott powered Hemi Cuda is #1 with a 8.291@ 161.04 MPH. A tick behind Comella is former NHRA Pro Stock driver and engine builder Jasson Line in his ’68 Barracuda with an 8.309.
With 17 cars in competition, Comella will get the bye in R1 as Line will race David Bogner in R1
Jimmy Daniels qualified his ’68 Dart #3 with a 8.331 and will face Minnesota racer Rick Johnson in R1
Former champ David Barton will face Jim Hensler’s Cuda who qualified on the bump with a 9.172
Eliminations will continue throughout Friday with the winner crowned during the Pro session Friday night.
