The 48th annual Back to the 50’s car show was held Fathers Day weekend at the State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, Minnesota. This gathering of pre 1964 street rods, customs, classics, antiques, trucks, muscle and racing vehicles filled the spacious and well maintained fairgrounds. The 10,000 vehicle owners and the large crowd of spectators took advantage of the many activities and venues offered.

Entertainment at the Bandshell Stage featured Robby Vee, the “ Prince of Twang,” magician Jerry Fraiser, and Tony Andreason of the Trashmen with the Surf Dawgs.

This year’s Pin Up Contest had the theme of Gilded Glamour with twenty ladies vying for Miss Back to the 50’s weekend 2022.

The Ladies Showcase, Craft Fair, Kids World, Model Car Contest, and Swap Meet, gave the event attendees a variety of options to explore. Justin Nicholas and his crew from Wrench’d were available for photos and autographs throughout the weekend. Episodes of Wrench’d are shown weekly on Motor Trend TV.

A flyover of T-6 Thunder planes had everyone looking skyward at the conclusion of the singing of the national anthem.

The Back to the 50’s weekend should be on everyone’s bucket list. This mega car event and happening will once again be hosted by the Minnesota Street Rod Association June 23-25 in 2023.
