For only the 3rd time in the last half century, the Pacific Division of NHRA held a points race at Pomona Raceway at the LA County Fairgrounds east of Los Angeles.
Lynsi Snyder, the owner of In-N-Out Burgers wanted to race at her home track and so the Snyder Sportsman Classic was born. The current high cost of gas and diesel undoubtedly cut into the number of entries, but even so, over 450 racers showed at the historic venue for great four days of racing.
Taking home the very cool 75th anniversary Wallys were Jeff Gillette in Top Sportsman, Cooper Chun in Top Dragster, Ryan Priddy in Comp, Justin Lamb in Super Stock, Cody Lane in Stock, Tanner Theobald in Super Comp, Brad Pierce in Super Gas, David Myhre in Super Street and Clayton Howey in Sportsman Motorcycle with Lynsi Snyder presenting the trophies to the winners.

SUPER STOCK
Kowalski, near lane, left too soon giving Lamb the Pomona win
Defending 2025 NHRA Super Stock World Champ got off to a great start in the new year. A good finish at the season opener at Phoenix and now a win at Pomona has the Nevada driver in the top spot in D7 Super Stock points.
Evan Kowalski from nearby Riverside left too soon in his FGT/C Cobalt, giving Lamb the easy win. Lamb who qualified his SS/AS Camaro in the #9 spot had to go five rounds during the weekend to meet Kowalski in the finals.
Lamb who has had success in both NHRA Stock and Super Stock and has been NHRA World Champ a record six times, notched his 37th Lucas win at the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip.
STOCK
Stein, far lane, has already lit the red light in the finals giving Lane the easy win
Former NHRA Champ Cody Lane from D6 drove his ’18 COPO Camaro to a Stock win over Nanette Stein’s Ford T Bird from Brentwood Calif.
Stein left -0.045 too soon in the finals giving Lane his 18th career Lucas Oil win. Lane also left the track in the #1 spot in the D6 Stock points along with leading the Competition Eliminator chase.
SUPER COMP
Theobald, far lane, took the Super Comp win back to Utah
Tanner Theobald from St George Utah drove his black dragster to the Super comp win with a telepathic 0.008 light in the finals against Chris Forsyth from Elisnore Calif. Forsyth ran closer to the 8.90 index with a 8.924 but Theobald’s reaction time sealed the deal with a 8.935.

The win at Pomona was Theobald’s 5th Lucas Oil win.
SUPER GAS

In a pair of D7 racers Riverside driver Brad Pierce drove his classic ’58 Corvette to a win over the ’63 Corvette roadster of Eric Reyes from Petaluma Calif.

In a double breakout final, Pierce ran closer to the 9.90 index with a 9.896 to the losing 9.880 of Reyes.
Pierce took home his third Lucas Wally in the win along with leading the D7 point chase in his Chevy.

Myhre’s win was his second career Lucas Oil win.
TOP SPORTSMAN

Rescue Calif. racer Jeff Gillette won his 14th career Wally beating the slowing Joe Stannard in the final of Top Sportsman. The former NHRA World Champ won the battle of Pontiacs in an anticlimactic final with Gillette’s running a 7.244 on his 6.86 dial as Stannard ran a mid 18 second losing run.

Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson from nearby Monrovia Calif. leads the D7 point chase.
TOP DRAGSTER

Division Six Cooper Chun from Vancouver WA. took Top Dragster over a breaking out Damon Bustamante. Chun ran a great 7.617 on his 7.60 dial as Bustamante from Upland Calif. went too quick with a breaking out 6.639 on his 6.64 dial.

The win was the Washington racers fifth Lucas Oil win.

Even with the loss in the finals, Bustamante leads the D7 Top Dragster point chase.
SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE

For those not familiar with the class, Sportsman Motorcycle is not a heads-up affair. Racers qualify based on their reaction times during qualifying. Similar to Jr Dragster. Once the field is set, each racer dials his or her’s dial in into the tree and it’s on from there

At Pomona eventual winner Clayton Howey from Hanford Calif. qualified his ’84 Airtech in the #19 spot and got to race the ’13 Hayabusa of Jeremy Bates from Utah in the finals who slid into the #3 qualifying spot.
Howey got the better light at the green and took the easy win with a 8.136 on his 7.94 dial as Bates was way off his dial with a 9.346 on a 8.80.

The win at Pomona was Howey’s sixth Lucas Oil win.
