After a weekend off as we honored the ones that gave the ultimate sacrifice for the county we love it’s time to hit the road for the second of four new NHRA National Events this time the Potomac Nationals.

MIR a previous NHRA Membership Track returns to the NHRA stable for the first time in decades and as the site of many famous independent doorslammer events such as the Mountain Motor Nationals this weekends inaugural NHRA National event is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated events on the schedule.

So strap on the helmet and let’s get strapped in as we give you this week’s pick 5.

NUMBER 5

HELLO MY OLD FRIEND

After several decades away from the NHRA stable MIR returns to the NHRA sanctioning with its first ever NHRA National event.

The multi purpose facility located in Budds Creek which has been the home of several big name events like World Cup Import vs Domestic and the famous Mountain Motor Nationals now adds the NHRA Potomac Nationals to its resume.

NUMBER 4

JRS TO THE LANES 

For the second time this season the Jr Dragster stars will take to the track for the Jr Dragster Shootout.

The shootout which features the 8 best Jrs from MIR last year will be sure to bring excitement for the hometown kids.

REBOUND FOR PROCK? 

After a slow start to the season including a shocking DNQ at the season opening Gatornationals Austin Prock is looking to pick up his first win with Bob Tasca and with an appearance this weekend in the 2fast2tasty challenge could this be the break through weekend for the 2 time and defending Funny Car Champion?

NUMBER 200 FOR WOMEN 

This week back in 2014 Courtney Force scored the 100th Pro Win for Women in the NHRA he she defeated Cruz Pedregon in the funny car final at Topeka.

After Angie Smith runner up in Pro Stock bike at the last event in Chicago can this weekend be the weekend the women score number 200?

NUMBER 1

A WIN FOR PRITCHETT? 

What a storyline it would be should Gary Pritchett win in TAD this weekend at MIR.

Pritchett who’s god mother is the late great Bunny Burkett who was a frequent fan favorite at the track who even has her Championship TAFC body on display at the track and with the first ever NHRA National event at MIR this weekend. How fitting would be for Gary to score a Wally at MIR.
