It’s hard to believe but we are already in month of June. It seems just like yesterday we were ringing in the new year and now we are in the summer months. As we soon approach the halfway point of the season here’s my 5 tips for this weekend.
Number 5 The Return of Two Old Friends It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a month since the stars of NHRA’s Pro Stock Bike and Pro Mod Classes have been racing but this weekend fans of both classes will rejoice with the return of both class this weekend in Bristol.
Number 4 First Win for Spencer Hyde The Funny Car star is the hottest rookie so far this season and with a Runner Up finish last weekend in could this weekend be the weekend he picks up his first Funny Car Wally?
Number 3 The biggest story this weekend at Bristol will be the Funny Car debut of former Top Alcohol Dragster National Champion Julie Nataas. The young lady you made her Nitro Debut last year in Top Fuel will be the first Norwegian Born driver to race in NHRA Funny Car and will also join the short list of females to race in both Top Fuel and Funny Car. Included on the list included Shirley Muldowney Christian Powell Vicky Fanning and Melanie Troxel.
Number 2 Potential for History This weekend there is a potential for History at Bristol involving two of Pro Stocks biggest stars. Should Greg Anderson win it would be his 110th NHRA National Event win. How fitting would this milestone be after Greg scored his first Pro Stock Wally at the same track in 2001. After making the final round last week in Epping should Erica Enders pick up the win this weekend in Bristol at the Super Gripe Thunder Valley Nationals it would mark her 50th career NHRA National Event win becoming the first women to enter the 50 National Event win club.
Number 1 Remembering One of our Own On July 6 2022 the sport of drag racing was rocked by the sudden passing of former 2008 Eastern Conference Finals Champion and Big Money Star Sean Serra in a tragic car crash. This weekend for the third time the racing family will gather to honor Sean’s life with the Sean Serra Memorial Race held at its new home Galot Motorsports Park and with over 80,000 dollars on the line over 3 days of racing this is one event you don’t wanna miss. This Edition of Billy’s Weekend Tips is dedicated to the memory of Sean Serra.
