After a weekend off, the NHRA Mission Foods Series heads to the famed Windy City the home of Chicago and Styx and the famed Willis Tower for the Gerber Collusion and Glass Route 66 Nationals present by Peak at Route 66 Raceway.

Since 1998 the track which hosted two Nationals Events from 2001 to 2005 has been the host to several historic firsts including Gary Sclezi first funny car run at 330mph in 2004 to the historic first win by a female in Pro Stock by Erica Enders in 2012 all come to mind. So, tie everything down as we give you this week’s pick.

FOUR FOR FOUR IN PRO STOCK BIKE?

Much like Top Fuel until Shawn Langdon became the first repeat winner at the previous event in South Georgia the Pro Stock Bike class has featured 3 different winners in the first 3 events contested for them this season and with Chicago being a hotbed for upsets could the streak extended to four by the end of the weekend?

This weekend’s event marks the annual return of the popular Peak Street Car Shootout.

This exhibition style eight car shootout featuring someone of the biggest stars from the popular Drag and Drive scene like Alex and Nick Taylor and Bryant Goldstone in the quickest and fastest street legal cars in the country will sure to bring the fans to their feet!

BACK TO BACK FOR VANDERGRIFF?

After breaking through for his first pro win at the previous event in South Georgia Jordan Vandergriff is looking to join Brandon Bernstein Blaine Johnson and Gary Scelzi as drivers that won their first two pro races back to back.

A WIN FOR THE HOMETOWN HERO

The Chicago event marks the home race for popular funny car driver Daniel Wilkerson.

The younger Wilkerson is looking to do something that his dad did in 1999 and that his win his first Nitro Funny Car National Event at their home track.

SALUTE TO A HOMETOWN HERO

This weekend’s event also marks the popular return of Top Fuel Star Krista Baldwin.

The popular third generation racer will be paying tribute to her famous Grandfather the Golden Greek Chris Karamesines in a special tribute scheme which will be revealed on the starting line for the first qualifying session of the weekend.
