The annual Funny Car Chaos hit the Texas Motorplex outside Dallas Texas for the annual event that features unique racing with “Run what you Brung” style of racing that Funny Cars from Fuel, nitrous, and Alcohol get together for a weekend of wild racing. Creator and promoters Chris and Tara Graves have been putting on Chaos races across the USA but historically, The Texas race is the largest meeting of the floppers. Fields are set by ET and the quickest race in the Top Eight or ‘A’ field and the rest of the show is filled out with the remaining cars. This style of qualifying implements parity with the varied cars on hand to race. 

Keith Zimmerer from Lindsay Texas drove his Mustang to the #1 spot at the Funny Car Chaos Classic. The former Outlaw Fuel Altered champ lead the quick eight car ‘A’ field with a 3.590 in the “Penny Pincher” Ford and will face the “Sons of Thunder” Mustang of Mark Billington in round 1.

Louisiana racer John Broussard has the Purple Haze Pontiac Firebird sitting in the #6 slot going into R1 Broussard faces Aaron Morrow in the other lane driving the Blue Max Ford Mustang.

Mike Newkirk from Kansas in his Silver Slipper is sitting on the ‘A’ bump with a 3.821 and will race John Robinson in the opening stanza. Robinson from Weatherford TX is making his Chaos Fuel Funny Car debut with the car and grabbed Top Speed during qualifying with a 221.25 MPH.

Mary Reep in the Grim Reeper Mustang in on the pole of the AlkeyDigger ‘B’ show with a 3.944. The Texas driver faces second generation racer Wayne Hofmann from Connecticut in the Hoffmann racing BBC Funny Car. Hofmann had nothing but problems at the season opening race at the Tulsa event but got it together at Dallas with a 4.156 to qualify 13th

Northeast racer Joe Pirrone sits in the twelve spot of the ‘B’ field  with a 4.085 in the Screaming Eagle Firebird

 

The index for the ‘B’ field will be a quick 3.84

Eureka Springs Arkansas racer Dan Cottrell in the ’69 Camaro Glass Chariot leads the Wulff Pump ‘C’ field with a 4.25 is up against Steve Vang from Norman OK in the opening round in the Wicked Weekender.

The ‘C’ field will work off a 4.15 index for eliminations.

Eliminations continue Saturday and winners crowned Saturday evening
