Anybody familiar with the Vignogna family knew one thing about them. They were a Mopar family. George along with his brothers, Lou, Jerry, and Ray, all raced the Pentastar symbol.

Stock/Super Stock promoter and NHRA official Dave Ley said, “George was a great friend and he really cared about everyone. Funny guy that just wanted to have a good time and be with his friends” .

Fellow Mopar racer Bucky Hess said, “One our favorite people, God got the best! You will be so sadly missed!

The following is the official statement from the funeral home that is handling all of the arrangements.

George was born on May 7, 1956 in the Bronx, NY to George and Carmela (DiFilippis) Vignogna moving to Mahopac in 1962.

George was a talented contractor and owner of Hudson Valley Construction Company.  He was true outdoor sportsman, with a passion for hunting, fishing, and being a NHRA Muscle Car Drag Racer.  He was a beloved brother and uncle whose family was very important to him.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends who knew and loved him.

George is survived by his loving sister Donna Vignogna-Palmiero (Michael Palmiero) and loving brother, Raymond Vignogna (Lorraine Vignogna) along with his 11 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers Louis and Jerry Vignogna and wife Barbara Vignogna.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 20, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc., 418 Route 6 (GPS 418 US-6), Mahopac, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate George’s life will take place 10:00am, Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 221 East Lake Blvd, Mahopac, NY.

Following Mass, George will be escorted to his final resting place for entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY  10532.
