Unseasonable temperatures and humidity didn’t keep nostalgia racers and their loyal fans from attending the annual Geezers at the Grove event. Due to the available supply of traction “ glue “ namely VHT the racing was limited to an 1/8th mile.

Four Eliminators were contested among vehicles 1996 and older. The Geezer Eliminator for drivers 55 and older was the exception whereas any model year could be raced.

Buybacks were allowed to all classes after the first round of eliminations. The East Coast Gassers were scheduled to attend but declined because of the predicted weather forecast. The back seat drivers were competing with a mixture of dragsters and altereds going down the drag strip.

The dedicated spectators were also able to view a variety of show cars displayed in the pit area. The vehicle entries were divided into three classes for judging.

The top ten cars selected by the judges received passes to the Pep Boys NHRA national event at Maple Grove Raceway. Their winning show cars will be seen by the usual capacity crowd attending the Grove’s biggest race September 15-18.

Considering the weather conditions an impressive number of race and show cars made for another memorable Geezer event.
